I recently have become obsessed with Boba tea, so, as a crafter, I naturally wanted to make tons of Boba-themed things. One of the things I thought of first was a bookend, so here’s the tutorial!

Tutorial – Boba Tea Bookend

You will need –

  • Smooth plastic cup
  • Clear plastic (sort of thick, but needs to be able to cut)
  • Toilet paper roll
  • Small rocks
  • Paint of choice for tea (Any from the rainbow!)
  • Black paint
  • Orange paint
  • Purple paint
  • White paint
  • Small clean rocks
  • Glue (hot glue recommended)

Steps –

  1. Cut the clear plastic into a circle that covers the top of the cup.
  2. Take your tea paint of choice and mix it with white, if you would like a more pastel color.
  3. Paint a coat of your tea color onto the cup.
  4. Do a coat of paint on one side of the clear plastic.
  5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 until the paint is covering all spots, and then wait for it to dry.
  6. Mix black and orange paint until you get a dark brown, and add some purple.
  7. Paint spots of the brown paint towards at bottom of the cup. Don’t have the boba touch, but have them sort of close. Let the paint dry!
  8. Take the toilet paper roll and cut the ends until it’s as tall as you want the straw to be above the lid.
  9. Make a vertical cut through the side of the roll. Overlap the edges and tape in place so you have a smaller tube. Cut the bottom of the straw at an angle if you would like it to be pointing to the side a little.
  10. Pain the straw with black paint. Let dry.
  11. (Optional) Line the bottom of the painted cup with hot glue, and dry. This will minimize slipping.
  12. Fill the cup with rocks, but make sure they don’t go above the top.
  13. Glue the painted plastic disk onto the top of the cup, shiny side up.
  14. Glue the staw into the center of the lid on the cup.

Your bookend is ready to use!

I love how it looks so much! When I see it in my room, it makes me smile. So adorable!
