I recently have become obsessed with Boba tea, so, as a crafter, I naturally wanted to make tons of Boba-themed things. One of the things I thought of first was a bookend, so here’s the tutorial!
Tutorial – Boba Tea Bookend
You will need –
- Smooth plastic cup
- Clear plastic (sort of thick, but needs to be able to cut)
- Toilet paper roll
- Small rocks
- Paint of choice for tea (Any from the rainbow!)
- Black paint
- Orange paint
- Purple paint
- White paint
- Small clean rocks
- Glue (hot glue recommended)
Steps –
- Cut the clear plastic into a circle that covers the top of the cup.
- Take your tea paint of choice and mix it with white, if you would like a more pastel color.
- Paint a coat of your tea color onto the cup.
- Do a coat of paint on one side of the clear plastic.
- Repeat steps 3 and 4 until the paint is covering all spots, and then wait for it to dry.
- Mix black and orange paint until you get a dark brown, and add some purple.
- Paint spots of the brown paint towards at bottom of the cup. Don’t have the boba touch, but have them sort of close. Let the paint dry!
- Take the toilet paper roll and cut the ends until it’s as tall as you want the straw to be above the lid.
- Make a vertical cut through the side of the roll. Overlap the edges and tape in place so you have a smaller tube. Cut the bottom of the straw at an angle if you would like it to be pointing to the side a little.
- Pain the straw with black paint. Let dry.
- (Optional) Line the bottom of the painted cup with hot glue, and dry. This will minimize slipping.
- Fill the cup with rocks, but make sure they don’t go above the top.
- Glue the painted plastic disk onto the top of the cup, shiny side up.
- Glue the staw into the center of the lid on the cup.
Your bookend is ready to use!

I love how it looks so much! When I see it in my room, it makes me smile. So adorable!
Thanks for reading! Comment with results from making this, questions, or more!

I love this idea, Stella! We are making homemade boba here at our house. Maybe someday we can make it all together! 😉
Cool! I’m planning to make homemade boba soon, too. In your opinion, how easy is it to make?
